Companies are also automating a lot of the former “middle class” jobs, many of which used to go to college grads. So we’re telling kids they need an expensive college degree to succeed, but the jobs a recent college grad used to get don’t exist anymore. IMO we need to be recommending technical schools more often; plumbers, electricians and the like are the new middle class.
